I've always wanted to forge a sliding metal top for a box, and the design I cut out was just something that came to mind as I stood there with a soapstone marker in the sun listening to See-I.
The hardest part...? The thing that made my brain get all tweaked? Was trying to figure out how to have the vine and leaves emerge from the concave I carved in the wood. But I figured it out :-)
I forged a raised finger hold on the sliding top to give you something to "grab" onto...and the sound the metal makes on the wood when you open the box kind of echoes and resonates.
Check out the other side of the box in my Artesania gallery.
